Storied Strings: The Guitar in American Art - Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

  • Dates: March 1, 2023 - March 19, 2023

  • Price: $16 for adults, $12 for seniors 65+, and $10 for youth 7–17 and college students with ID. The exhibition is free for VMFA members, children ages 6 and under, and active-duty military personnel and their immediate families.

  • About: This is your last month to check out this VMVA exhibit. The Guitar in American Art is the first exhibition to explore the instrument’s symbolism in American art from the early 19th century to the present day. Featuring 125 works of art, as well as 35 musical instruments, the exhibition will demonstrate that guitars figure prominently in the visual stories Americans tell themselves about themselves—their histories, identities, and aspirations.

Home to many notable and beautiful landmarks, it's easy to see why spirits of days past would still linger here today. Packed with haunted history, this tour includes The Jefferson Hotel, Lindon Row Inn, Richmond Public Library, and more... Tickets are limited, so advance reservations are strongly recommended.

  • About: Please join us for our annual Spring Boutique and Wedding Expo at The Virginia Cliffe Inn. Saturday, March 18th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a rain date of Sunday, March 19th. Every year at the inn, we host a fun and exciting event showcasing our favorite local wedding vendors, so couples can meet them face-to-face and learn more about what they have to offer. From local bakeries, catering, photographers, salons and spas, transportation, live paintings, florists, music, makeup, and so much more. We will also have an array of boutique wedding items for you to try on. We expect to have food trucks, food and beverage tastings, and shopping while meeting new friends and having fun!


Dog Jog, 5K and Block Party - Richmond SPCA

  • Price: 5K and Dog Jog early bird prices are $35 each or $60 for both; Little Paws Fun Run and Block Party are free to attend.

  • About: Join the lifesaving fun at the Richmond SPCA's 21st Annual Dog Jog, 5K and Block Party presented by Holiday Barn Pet Resorts. The Richmond SPCA is excited to host the in-person Dog Jog and 5K, while still offering a virtual Run Anywhere option for those who want to join in on the fun from your favorite trail or neighborhood. The day begins with a chip-timed 5K (3.1-mile) for people only, followed by the Little Paws Fun Run for kids ages 4 to 10, and then a leisurely 1-mile Dog Jog. The Block Party, featuring live music, special performances, beer/wine trucks and much more, kicks off at noon and is free to attend. The first 1,000 registrants receive a T-shirt and bag full of giveaways from our generous sponsors. The Richmond SPCA will award 5K finisher awards and fundraising prizes to the top participants. They will also award the top individual and team fundraisers as well as the fastest 5K finishers both overall and by age group.
